Methodology

The word methodology is commonly used when referring to the type of method used in a particular areas of expertise, but it’s more so the process of figuring out the best method for the job. Methodologists seeks to learn from methods things other than the out put they are designed for. It is the theory and study of methods, as well as the process of designing them. This includes identifying and defining the job that needs a method.

Main efforts first deal with the idea structure of the method itself. Processes include the forming and use of rules to engage a method for data on it’s performance. Then systematic, theoretical analysis of the data to determine how well it did it’s job. These approaches in methodology apply to all academic and professional fields. Sometimes the right method already exists, other times it’s an existing one that needs refinement, and occasionally a new one needs to be created.

It’s an approach to method, you could even say it’s method applied to method. It is a crucial component of the scientific process, and it’s used to evaluate the validity, reliability, and accuracy of scientific theories and results. This is a process where by nature, it has the power to form concepts that can become theoretical models and after repeated success eventually part of the paradigm.
